Just find a teleporter within the Institute. They've got this teleportation tech that's basically your express elevator to the surface. So, if you're looking to make a dramatic exit, that's your go-to.
lol, why leave? Best digs in the wasteland. But seriously, fast travel is your friend here. Unless you've got a mission that prevents it, you can teleport out like you're nipping to the shops.
Heads up, you can't just fast travel out of the Institute during certain missions. Found that out the hard way. Make sure you complete or exit the mission first. If all else fails, reloading an earlier save can save the day.
