You can get planks by harvesting crops, collecting them as rewards from mystery boxes, or trading with friends and neighbors! Just keep farming, and they'll show up eventually.
Sometimes it's all about luck: keep opening mystery boxes and treasure chests you find around the farm. They frequently contain planks!
Just trade for them. Your neighbors and friends likely have plenty of planks to spare and you can offer them something they need in return.
