Honestly, this is pretty sketchy territory. Steam Deck, mighty as it is, doesn't officially support PlayStation 2 (PS2) emulation directly because, well, you need the PS2 BIOS files, which are copyrighted by Sony. Getting them without owning the original PS2 or without Sony’s permission is a no-go zone legally. So, my advice? Stick to the games available on Steam or explore other legal emulation options that don't require BIOS files you can't legally obtain.

Nope, not gonna touch this one with a 10-foot pole. Getting PS2 BIOS without diving into legal gray areas? Impossible.

As someone who's dabbled in emulation, your best bet for PS2 games on Steam Deck is to focus on those ports officially available. Dipping into BIOS waters gets murky fast. Own the console? Cool, rip the BIOS yourself. Otherwise, stick to the high road.

Real talk: Just own a PS2 legally or get the BIOS directly from your own console. That way, you're not stepping on any legal landmines. Plus, it's a legit excuse to dust off the old console and take a trip down memory lane!

If you're a Steam player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is the official Steam gift card, which you can win and use to get anything you want essentially for free!

In case you’re wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
