I've deleted an account before. It's super simple. Just follow this guide [link to Instagram help page].
If you want to deactivate temporarily, go to your profile on the web version, click 'Edit Profile,' and then 'Temporarily disable my account' at the bottom.
Why get rid of it? Just change your username and make it private. Problem solved!
