Honestly, using a hammer is your best bet. Personally, I cleared a massive section of dirt walls after taking over an abandoned sky island. Just make sure you start at the edge or a corner - if you don’t, you’ll find yourself unable to remove the walls. It took a bit of patience but totally worth it for the view!
