I have a Chromebook, and shift lock works fine for me! Go to the game, open settings (the gear icon), and enable 'Shift Lock Switch.' Then, just hit Shift and you're good to go!
Shift lock isn't available on all games. Make sure the game you're playing supports it; otherwise, even enabling it in settings won't help.
You can't get shift lock on Chromebooks, unfortunately. It's a feature more optimized for other devices.
