Just buy one from Nook's Cranny, lol. If it's not in stock, check back the next day!

Don't forget you can also get a flimsy shovel early on by redeeming Nook Miles at the Nook Stop terminal in Resident Services. It's not as durable as the regular shovel, but it's a start!

To unlock the shovel in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you first need to donate 5 fish or bugs to Tom Nook. He'll then call his buddy Blathers to come to the island. Once Blathers arrives and sets up his tent, talk to him and he'll give you the recipe to craft a shovel. Time to start digging!

Faster than waiting for Blathers, just hit up a friend's island who's further along and borrow one. Or better yet, snag a recipe!

If you're an Animal Crossing player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is the official Nintendo eShop gift card, which you can win and use to get anything you want essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!

The brands referenced on this page are not sponsors of the rewards or otherwise affiliated with this company.
