Fighters have their alternate costumes already available, just press the Y button on the character select screen to cycle through them. Simple as that!
To get skins (a.k.a. different costumes) in Super Smash Bros Ultimate, you usually select them as 'alternate costumes' when choosing your character. Just hover over your character and press a button to cycle through the different outfits!
In my experience, some of the coolest skins are tied to amiibos. Scan your compatible amiibo and watch the magic happen!
