Easiest way I've found: Go to your Steam Library, click 'INSTALL' on the game you already have files for, then point the installation to where your game files are already located. Steam should then say 'Discovering existing files for...' and voila, you should be good to go!

Just move the game files into the common folder under Steamapps in your Steam directory, then restart Steam. When you hit install, it usually finds the existing files.

Honestly, just re-download the game. Steam's finicky with recognizing files, and you'll save yourself a headache.

Sometimes deleting the appmanifest file for that game in your Steam folder, then trying to install the game as you normally would, forces Steam to recognize the existing files. Worked for me when I was shuffling games between drives.

If you're a Steam player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is the official Steam gift card, which you can win and use to get anything you want essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!

The brands referenced on this page are not sponsors of the rewards or otherwise affiliated with this company.
