From personal experience, start by going to your settings, select 'Your Facebook Information,' and hit 'Download Your Information.' It worked for me!
From your Facebook feed, click on the dropdown arrow in the top right, choose 'Settings & Privacy,' then 'Settings,' 'Your Facebook Information,' and 'Download Your Information.' Follow the prompts to get your archives. Done it myself a couple of times.
