Heads up, sometimes trees just decide to be stubborn. I planted like a dozen acorns, followed all the 'rules' and they took FOREVER to grow. Finally popped up after I almost forgot about them. Trees in Terraria are like that bad friend who shows up late to the party.

Growing trees in Terraria is pretty straightforward but you gotta follow the basics. First, make sure you plant the acorns in grass. Acorns won't grow on just any surface; they need a nice patch of grass. Keep a bit of space between each acorn because trees need room to breathe and grow, about three blocks apart should do the trick. Also, don't forget that trees won't grow under a closed roof, so make sure the sky is clear above where you're planting. Patience is key! Trees take some time to grow, so don't worry if they don't pop up instantly.
