To nab yourself an Underground Pylon in Terraria, you need to first make sure you're buddies with the NPCs. You need at least two happy NPCs living in the underground biome. Then, just head to one of their shops, and if they're happy enough, you'll see the Underground Pylon for sale. Buy it, place it, and bam, fast travel underground!

Just buy it from an NPC who likes living underground. If they're not selling it, they ain't happy. Move some neighbors in or out until they cheer up.

I tried everything to get NPCs happy underground. Turns out, a tavernkeep and a demolitionist were the golden ticket. Bought my pylon after setting them up down there. Worked like a charm!
