Simply right-click the game shortcut, go to Properties, and add '-window' to the Target field. Worked like a charm for me!
Good luck, but I found it easier to use a third-party tool like DxWnd to force the game into windowed mode. Do what works best for you!
Just use the launch options in Steam! Right-click the game in your library, select Properties, and under Launch Options, type '-window'. Quick and easy!
