In my experience, the best way to get weapons is through trading. I got a cool scattergun that way!
Just play the game! You'll get random weapon drops every so often. Also, hit up the Trade servers for some sweet deals.
Crafting weapons is an option too. Just gather some Metal from smelted duplicate weapons and combine them.
Buy 'em from the Mann Co. Store if you don't mind spending a few bucks. Instant gratification, baby!
