Grading a Pokemon card yourself mainly involves checking for any wear and tear, scratches on the surface, or bends. Look at the edges and corners for whitening or fraying, and inspect the centering of the image on the card. The grading scale from 1 to 10 is used, with 10 being a perfectly preserved card. It's also super important to check the card's surface for scratches or indentations. A magnifying glass can help you see details you might miss with the naked eye!

Honestly, just eyeball it. If it looks pretty and shiny, and you can't see any major damage, it's probably in good condition. Just remember, professional grading will always give you the exact condition.

Been grading my own cards for years. It's all about lighting! Good, natural light can reveal imperfections you'd miss otherwise. And always handle your cards with clean hands or gloves to avoid smudging. From experience, I'd say a card you think is a 10 is more often around an 8. We tend to overlook minor flaws.

If you're a Pokemon TCG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of Pokemon cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
