To group up in Splatoon 2, you want to use the 'Friends' option in the Lobby menu. Just make sure you and your pals are online at the same time and invite them to join your party!
You can create a room in the Online Lounge via the Nintendo Switch Online app, then invite your friends to join. Teamwork makes the dream work!
