Growing trees in Terraria is super easy, just make sure you've got enough space first! Plant an acorn in grassy soil—make sure it's not on sand or snow. Leave at least two blocks of space between each acorn for the trees to grow. Oh, and trees love light, but they don't need sunlight, so you can even grow them underground. Just be patient, trees take a bit of time to grow. Happy planting!

Just toss an acorn on some grassy ground, dude. Space 'em out. Wait. Boom, tree!

Actually, trees in Terraria can grow pretty close together, I've had them grow with just one block apart! So don't stress the spacing too much. But more space does help with bigger trees.
