I've always just used Bluetooth! Pair it in the Accessory Settings and then in the Audio Device Settings, set it to output all audio through the headset. Works like a charm.

Just plug your headset into your controller, then go to Settings > Sound Settings > Audio Output Settings. Make sure you select 'Headset.'
