Quick tip: if you're looking to holster your weapon and look less threatening to the locals, just long press the reload button. Works like a charm every time.

Honestly, holstering in Fallout 4? Just mash buttons until it works, that's my strategy. Kidding – it's the reload button, hold it down.

I always forget to holster my weapon and end up accidentally provoking someone. But yeah, holding down the reload button does the trick.

To holster your weapon in Fallout 4, simply hold down the 'Reload' button for a couple of seconds. On PC, that's usually the 'R' key. On Xbox, it's the 'X' button, and on PlayStation, it's the 'Square' button. Just give it a couple of seconds, and your character will put their weapon away, making it easier to interact peacefully in the Commonwealth.

If you're a Fallout 4 player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

That includes gift cards from all of your favorite gaming platforms, like PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, Steam and more... which you can win and use to get anything you want essentially for free!

In case you’re wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
