Easy peasy! To back up Hay Day, just connect your game to your Supercell ID. Open the game, tap the settings (gear icon), and select 'Supercell ID.' Follow the steps to register or log in. Voila, it's backed up!

From personal experience, Supercell ID is the best way to back up your Hay Day progress. I switched phones, logged in with Supercell ID, and my farm popped right up without any hassle.
