Spotting a first edition Pokemon card is pretty straightforward! Look for the small, black “Edition 1” symbol located directly below the bottom left corner of the Pokemon illustration. If it's there, you've got yourself a first edition! Also, remember, this symbol is exclusive to cards from the original sets, so if you see it, you've got a piece of Pokemon history!

Nah, it's not that hard. Just look for the “Edition 1” stamp. If it ain't there, it ain't first edition. Simple as that.

Be careful with those first editions, though. Not every old card is a goldmine. Some might have the “Edition 1” symbol, but condition matters a ton for value. Found a few in my basement once, thought I hit the jackpot, but turned out, condition was a deal-breaker.

If you're a Pokemon TCG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of Pokemon cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you’re wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
