Honestly, it's not that hard. If you can't read it, it's probably Japanese. And check the back for 'Pocket Monsters'. Easy.
Easy, peasy, lemon squeezy! Japanese Pokemon cards are usually a dead giveaway because of the back of the card. Look for the distinct 'Pocket Monsters' text instead of 'Pokemon Card Game'. Also, the text on the card will obviously be in Japanese. If you're seeing characters you don't recognize from your English alphabet soup, chances are, you've got yourself a Japanese card.
Don't forget the card number! Japanese Pokemon cards often have their card number and set printed differently than their English counterparts. Look for a little number at the bottom like 'RR' or something similar to spot them!
