First off, you gotta enable Desktop Mode on your Steam Deck. Once you're there, open the Discover Software Center. Search for 'ProtonUp-Qt,' and install it. ProtonUp-Qt makes it super easy to add or update Proton-GE. Launch ProtonUp-Qt, click 'Add Version,' select 'GE-Proton6-##,' and install. Switch back to Gaming Mode, go to your Steam Library, right-click on a game, Properties -> Compatibility, and pick the GE version you installed. Boom! You're all set to enjoy those non-native games with enhanced compatibility.

Honestly, Proton GE is cool and all, but the latest official Proton versions Valve's rolling out are more than enough for most games. Why bother with the extra steps?

If you're a Steam player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is the official Steam gift card, which you can win and use to get anything you want essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!

The brands referenced on this page are not sponsors of the rewards or otherwise affiliated with this company.
