Honestly, just stick to the steps provided by Sony on their official site. Their instructions are foolproof.

Place a USB stick with the latest PS3 update file in the root folder into one of the USB ports. It should be named PS3/UPDATE/PS3UPDAT.PUP. The PS3 will automatically detect it and install the OS for you when you turn it on.

First, make sure your new hard drive is the right size. Plug it into your PS3, and the system will prompt you to format it. Follow the instructions to install the PS3 OS from a USB stick with the latest firmware update from the PlayStation website. Easy peasy!

I just did this last week! You'll need to download the PS3 system software update from Sony's website to a USB drive. Insert the new HDD and the USB drive into the PS3. When prompted, follow the on-screen instructions to format the drive and install the OS.

If you're a PlayStation player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is the official PlayStation gift card, which you can win and use to get anything you want essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
