To install PS3 save game data, pop your USB stick into your computer, copy your save files into a folder named 'PS3' and within that another named 'SAVEDATA'. Plug the USB into your PS3, head to Game -> Saved Data Utility, and hit triangle to copy the files to your console. Boom, you're done!

I've done this plenty of times! Copy the save data onto a USB drive (folders 'PS3/SAVEDATA'), then use the 'Saved Data Utility' on your PS3 to copy the files. Simple as that!
