Actually, you might not need to manually install at all. Sometimes I forget I've even bought DLC because Steam adds it to the game without me doing anything. But if there's trouble, a quick restart of Steam fixes it 9 times out of 10.
Installing DLC on Steam is pretty straightforward! Just head over to the game's page in your Steam library. If you already own the DLC, you'll see it listed under the 'DLC' section. Check the box next to it if it's not already checked, and Steam should start downloading it right away. If it's not downloading, make sure the game itself is fully installed and try restarting Steam.
