Honestly, just message your buddy in-game, and they'll shoot you an invite. Can't get simpler than that.
Easiest way: Go to your Contacts, find your friend, and click 'Invite to Party.' Boom, you're in a squad!
If you're in a Clan, use the Clan menu to find members online and invite them to your party. Works every time!
Open the Navigation console, select a mission, click 'Public' if you want to join randoms, or 'Friends Only' for a private session. Now go ninja some Grineer!
