In my experience, you can tell an equation is linear if it only has x and no x^2. It鈥檚 all about that highest power!
If you see x^2 anywhere in the equation, it's quadratic. If not, then it's linear.
Hot take: If you can graph it as a straight line, it's linear. No other checks needed!
A quadratic equation has a squared term (like x^2). If that term is missing, it's linear. Simple as that!
