You can tell if someone blocked you on Steam if you suddenly can't comment on their profile, their profile appears as 'private' or if you were friends, they disappear from your friends list. Also, if you try to add them as a friend and can't, that's a big hint!
Just try sending a message. If it doesn't go through and you used to be buddies, you've probably been blocked. It's like trying to call someone who's changed their number and not told you.
