Just start by finding a Gardening textbook, then use it on any survivor who's got an empty skill slot. Or recruit someone who already knows a thing or two about plants.
Gardening textbooks are your best friend. Use 'em on survivors to teach them. Also, make sure you have a garden or farm set up to practice those skills!
A hot take: It's sometimes quicker to just recruit someone with the skill already. Save yourself the hassle of finding a book and training!
