I had a bit of a different experience, I think it depends. For me, I had to actually reinstall Apex on Steam and then it finally asked me for my Origin info. So if it doesn't prompt you the first time, maybe give that a try?
Honestly, just let Steam do its magic when you first start the game. It asks for your Origin login, and that's about it. Done and dusted!
