To rack up caps in Fallout Shelter, make sure you're optimizing your vault layout and dwellers' assignments. Rooms run more efficiently when dwellers with the highest attributes for that room are working there. For example, put dwellers with high Strength in the Power Generator. Also, don't forget to send dwellers out into the wasteland to explore; they can find caps and bring them back. Levelling up your dwellers and successfully completing objectives will also net you a nice stash of caps. Keep an eye on those daily and weekly quests!
Exploring the wasteland is the way to go, IMO. Dwellers find all sorts of loot out there, including lots of caps. Just make sure they're well-equipped or they'll end up as radroach chow.
Honestly? The easiest way to get caps is just to play the game regularly. Caps come naturally as you expand your vault, level up your dwellers, and complete missions. No big secrets, just play and enjoy!
