Oh, gearing up for some fish-catching adventures, are we? Making a fishing rod in Terraria is your first step to becoming a master angler! You'll start with the simplest one - the Wooden Fishing Rod. Grab yourself some wood, 8 pieces to be exact, and head to a Work Bench. Craft it there, and voila, you're ready to cast your line into the nearest body of water! As you progress, you can craft better rods with higher fishing power. Keep an eye out for materials like Demonite or Crimtane bars, and even visit the Mechanic or Traveling Merchant for special rods. Happy fishing!

Honestly, I usually skip the wooden one and go straight for the Reinforced Fishing Rod. You need iron bars or lead bars (8 of them) and a Work Bench. It's got a higher fishing power, so why waste time with the wooden one, right?

Just use 8 wood at a Work Bench. Easy peasy.
