Ah, the legendary key mold hunt! Key molds can't be 'made' in the traditional crafting sense. Instead, you gotta embrace the grind and farm for them. They drop from any mob but only in certain biomes that correspond to the type of key mold you're after. For example, if you want a Jungle Key Mold, you need to farm mobs in the Jungle biome. Remember, patience is key (pun totally intended)! And don't forget, this was the case before version 1.3. Now, you just need to find Biome Keys which drop directly, bypassing the need for molds.

Just to set the record straight, you can't actually craft key molds in Terraria anymore. Since the 1.3 update, the game directly drops Biome Keys from enemies instead. So, no more crafting mold needed, just a lot of patience for that sweet, sweet Biome Key drop.

Key molds are so 2013! Nowadays, Terraria skips the molds and drops Biome Keys directly from enemies in their respective biomes. Happy hunting!
