How to Make a Mob Farm in Minecraft PS3
First, create a dark, enclosed space for mobs to spawn. Build multiple layers if you want more efficiency. Use water streams to direct the mobs to a central drop shaft, where they fall to their doom (or a convenient contraption to finish them). Finally, set up collection hoppers to gather your loot.

Start by picking a location at least 24 blocks away from where you usually hang out, preferably up in the sky or underground. Build a spawning platform, usually a 20x20 area, with a ceiling of at least 2 blocks high. Make the edges funnel towards a collection point using water streams to push mobs into a killing zone with hoppers to collect drops.
Simple method: Dig a big hole, cover it, and make water flow to a central point. Mobs spawn, fall into water, and get carried away. Easy peasy!
From my experience, sky mob farms work best on PS3. Build a 128 block high tower so mobs spawn above the ground. Add platforms and water canals leading to a drop zone. Collect the drops using hoppers.
