I made a starfield in GIMP by using a black canvas, then adding noise, and applying a Gaussian blur to soften things up. Play around with different size and opacity settings to make it look extra cosmic.

You can easily create a starfield in GIMP by starting with a new black image, then heading to Filters > Noise > Hurl and setting a suitable randomization level to get some white noise. This'll look like stars scattered across the night sky!

I recommend starting with a black background, then use the 'Plasma' filter followed by 'Threshold' to highlight the stars, and finish with a Gaussian Blur for that dreamy cosmic effect!

Just use the noise filter and hurl it to get some stars. Easy, done.
