Actually, you can get pretty creative outside the official channels. Some folks use GIFs as profile pictures on Steam, though it's a bit of a workaround. You'd need to find or make your GIF, then use a third-party site to convert it to a Steam-compatible format. Just keep it appropriate and remember that official animated avatars from the Point Shop are the only ones fully supported by Steam.

Making an animated Steam avatar is pretty straightforward but remember, Steam officially supports it for Steam Point Shop items only. So, first step: accumulate those Steam Points by purchasing games or making in-game purchases. Once you've got enough, head over to the Point Shop, look for animated avatars or frames, and snag one that tickles your fancy. After purchasing, just go to your profile settings to equip your new animated glory!

If you're a Steam player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is the official Steam gift card, which you can win and use to get anything you want essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
