You can't make the ball disappear in MLB The Show 23. It's probably just a glitch you're seeing.

It's a bug, not a feature! Sometimes the game has visual glitches, but there's no intentional way to make the ball vanish.

I've played countless hours, and trust me, the disappearing ball is just an occasional bug. Restarting the game usually fixes it.
