From personal experience, I suggest building a sturdy log fence first. Leave a gap, and then use logs and rope to fashion a gate. Worked wonders for me every time!

Just leave a gap in your fence, then build a door frame using logs, and attach a door with rope. Easy peasy!

To make a fence gate in Sons of the Forest, start by building a basic fence with logs. Then, leave a gap where you want the gate to be and add horizontal logs across the gap. Finally, attach a door mechanism using sticks and rope. Good luck surviving those mutants!
