Making healing potions in Terraria is pretty straightforward. You'll need Bottled Water, which you can get by standing near water with bottles in your inventory and clicking on the water. Then, you need to mix in a Mushroom (commonly found on the surface) and Gel (dropped by slimes). Take these ingredients to a Placed Bottle or an Alchemy Table, and voila, you have yourself a Lesser Healing Potion! For stronger potions, you'll need to find or craft their specific ingredients, like Pixie Dust for Greater Healing Potions.

Honestly, I never bother making potions. Just find them in chests or get them from enemies. Much easier.
