Oh, the mighty molten pickaxe! You're gonna need 20 Hellstone Bars. First, get yourself to the Underworld and start mining Hellstone, but don't forget, Hellstone turns into lava when mined. So, bring an Obsidian Skin potion or craft some Obsidian to make your life easier. Then, smelt that Hellstone ore with Obsidian at a Hellforge to get those bars. Once you have your 20 Hellstone Bars, just head over to an Iron Anvil or Lead Anvil, and voila, you've got yourself a molten pickaxe to tear through the toughest of blocks!

IDK why everyone fusses about the molten pickaxe. Just get a Reaver Shark by fishing in the ocean. Much easier and you can skip the whole molten drama.

Just mine Hellstone in the Underworld and combine it with Obsidian. Easy peasy.
