Honestly, the fastest way is to just scribble the card name and main details on a piece of paper and stick it in a sleeve with a basic land card. It's not pretty, but it gets the job done when you’re in a hurry to playtest.

I’ve been making proxies for playtesting new decks for years. The best method I’ve found is using a high-quality printer and glossy photo paper for a finish that feels more like the real thing. Just be clear with your playgroup that they’re proxies to avoid any confusion!

Making proxies for MTG is super simple! You just need to print out the image of the card you want on regular paper, then cut it out and slide it into a card sleeve with a real MTG card or a blank card for support. Make sure the printout is clear, so you don't accidentally start a squinting contest during your game!

Please, just buy real cards. Proxies totally ruin the authenticity of the game.

Use websites that generate proxies directly from the MTG database. They'll have the correct dimensions and text, saving you the trouble of formatting everything yourself.

If you're an MTG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of MTG cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you’re wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!

The brands referenced on this page are not sponsors of the rewards or otherwise affiliated with this company.
