Don't waste your time. The moment you can, skip straight to making a Meteor suit or jump into jungle armor. Shadow Scale is cool and all, but there are better options faster if you're quick.
Shadow Scale set was my first major armor upgrade in Terraria, and it made a HUGE difference. Farming the Eater of Worlds might seem tough at first, but it's totally worth it for that sweet defense and set bonuses. Plus, you'll feel super accomplished once you're decked out in it.
