Actually, depends on what you're looking for. Picksaw is great and all, but don't sleep on the Drill Containment Unit. It might not be a pickaxe per se, but this thing mines insanely fast and can cover large areas. Totally changed the game for me. Plus, the look on your friend's face when you roll up in a flying drill? Priceless.

To make the best pickaxe in Terraria, you're gonna want to aim for the Picksaw or the Solar Flare Pickaxe. Picksaw drops from the Golem boss in the Jungle Temple, and it's got a fast mining speed plus can mine Lihzahrd Bricks. For the Solar Flare Pickaxe, you'll need fragments from the Solar Pillar during the Lunar Events, plus some Luminite, which you get from beating the Moon Lord. Farm those bosses and gather up the materials, and you'll be setting yourself up for the best mining experience in the game!
