Honestly, the only way is to walk around in real life. Pokémon GO tracks your GPS, so grab your sneakers and get going!
If you're thinking of spoofing your location, just don't. It's against the rules, and you risk getting banned.
No shortcuts here! Get up, get out, and get moving. Your character only moves when you do.
From personal experience, you'll need to physically walk or run. I've tried everything else, and shortcuts don't work. Happy hunting!
