Use the 'Privacy Settings and Tools' section to control who can see your info, who can contact you, and how people can find you.
Go to 'Settings & Privacy', select 'Privacy Settings', then change who can see your future posts to 'Friends'! Done and done!
Just a heads up, privacy is an illusion on the internet. But you can tweak your settings in 'Privacy Shortcuts'.
I made my profile private by setting everything to 'Friends Only' and disabling search engine indexing in privacy settings!
