Bad news - marking messages unread isn鈥檛 a thing on Instagram... yet. Business accounts do have more DM options though.
Sadly, marking messages as unread on Instagram isn't a feature for everyone. You could try switching to a business account to flag important DMs.
Switch your account to a business profile. This lets you flag messages, which kinda works like marking unread.
