Flashcards work wonders. Write the element symbol on one side and the name on the other. Quizzing yourself really helps!
Turn it into a song. Trust me, singing 'The Elements' by Tom Lehrer will get those elements stuck in your head faster than you can say 'Einsteinium.'
Honestly, just keep using it. The more you work with the periodic table, the more familiar you'll become with the elements and their positions.
Break it down into chunks. Don't try to memorize the whole thing at once; start with the first 10 elements, and then keep adding more.
