To mine Desert Fossils in Terraria, you'll need at least a Deathbringer Pickaxe or a Nightmare Pickaxe. These can mine desert fossils without any hassle. But here's a pro tip: if you can't get either of those pickaxes early on, use explosives like bombs or dynamite to blast your way through and gather those fossils!

You're overthinking it. Just bomb it. Seriously, nothing beats the satisfaction of watching those blocks explode and collecting fossils without swinging a pickaxe a thousand times.

Actually, you can totally skip the pickaxe route if you're feeling adventurous (or impatient). Just stock up on bombs or dynamite from the Demolitionist, and go to town on those fossil blocks. It's efficient, fun, and a little bit dangerous – perfect for the Terraria spirit!

I've been mining Desert Fossils since you had to walk uphill both ways in the snow to do it, and I swear by the pickaxe method. Yes, explosives work, but there's something about precision mining and not accidentally blowing up valuable fossils or yourself. Plus, the sense of accomplishment when you finally craft that Nightmare Pickaxe is unbeatable.
