Ah, mining Hellstone in Terraria, the good ol' fiery challenge! First things first, you'll need an Obsidian Skull to protect you from the burning blocks. Crafting this requires 20 Obsidian, which you can get by mixing water with lava. Next up, grab yourself a Nightmare Pickaxe or better; otherwise, those Hellstone blocks won't budge. Don't forget to bring along plenty of Obsidian Skin Potions. These bad boys make you immune to lava, so you can dive into those hellish lakes worry-free. Remember, mining Hellstone releases lava, so keep an eye out and maybe bring some blocks to plug those fiery leaks!

Honestly, the prep for mining Hellstone is more daunting than the actual mining. Nightmare Pickaxe, Obsidian Skin Potion, and some patience. Easy enough if you ask me.

Just use the Reaver Shark pickaxe. It's easier to get and does the job without all the extra steps.
